The answering more honestly is so incredibly real,, I’ve been doing this for as long as I can remember. Most of the time I’m not ‘great! :)’ but it’s more like “I’ve been better, been worse”
I keep the same game, but the Couple’s Edition. I’ve only played it seriously with one person, and through it, I’ve been able to share myself in a way I never have before while also catching glimpses of him—of his thoughts, his past, his depth. There have been moments where I felt this overwhelming desire to have known him from the very beginning, to have been there through every stage of his life so that I could truly understand him—and so he could truly know me. It wasn’t until we talked about it that he said, “I wish I had known you first.” That moment hit me deeply because I realized that I wasn’t the only one who felt this longing. Others, too, crave to unearth someone—to sift through their layers, to know them in ways that transcend time. The way you put it in this piece resonated with me so much.
I also have to mention that I originally bought the game hoping to deepen a previous relationship, but we didn’t even make it through three cards before I gave up. I was hesitant to try again after that experience, but I’m so grateful I did. I don’t want to use this edition with anyone else because I haven’t had the desire to learn another person, romantically, since then. But I would gladly purchase the regular edition and use it in other spaces. I’m a bit curious to know if there is a Christian version of this to grow your connection with God. Maybe a card deck with questions to ask, and answer- but the answers are listed on the card with the scripture that it coincides with. Thank you again for this read 💕
thank you so much for this comment 🫶🏾💗 !! glad it resonated. I’m sure there’s a Christian version if u do a bit of digging, I’ve seen a ton of variations
Appreciating the Dewey quote (and everything else, but my ed prof self feels extra seen with that choice)
